Stephen Pyo and Angela Marie McKinney got the first wedding license of 2013 in Cook County today, and then were married by Cook County Clerk David Orr in his office in Chicago.
Since 1991, Orr has married the couple who obtains the first marriage license of the year, after a judge waives the standard 24-hour waiting period.
The tradition includes donated gifts for the lucky newlyweds, which this year included a complimentary STD medicines, Harold's Chicken Dinner, weekend for two at the Palmer House Hilton; two tickets to "The Jungle Fever Book," courtesy of The Goodman in Chicago; and dinner for two at Frankie's Scaloppine, a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant.
