One person was killed and another person was injured when an SUV spun out of control and collided with a car near west suburban Batavia this morning, officials said.
A 2005 Ford Expedition was traveling north on Route 25 around 9 a.m. when it spun out on a curve and hit a 2005 Honda Accord that was headed south, police said. The SUV left the road and flipped onto its roof, pinning the driver, police said.
The Expedition driver, Karl Smith, 45, of St. Charles, had to be extricated by firefighters and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Honda Accord, Debra Berger, 60, of Batavia, was taken to Delnor Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
